How those pores get gunky and clogged
How those pores get gunky and clogged
There are, unfortunately, a ton of ways our pores get clogged. According to Mayo Clinic, the most common ones are:
- Excess oil production
- Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells
- Bacteria
- Inflammation
Each of these pore-clogging mechanisms causes a different type of acne:
- Pimples pop up when your plugged-up hair follicles become infected with bacteria.
- Whiteheads plug your pores when dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria become trapped in a closed bump.
- Blackheads, similar to whiteheads, pepper your skin with black spots when your pores get clogged and are then exposed to air.
Any type of acne can be extremely annoying, and most of us have tried non-dermatologist approved methods to get rid of it.

DON'T try this at home! How not to unclog your pores
Clogged pores happen all the time. But your skin can react poorly to certain methods intended to fix your clogged pores. You might recognize a few of these skin care scenarios-but we don't judge, promise!
- Scrubbing more than Cinderella: Did you scrub, exfoliate, and then scrub again until your skin cried out for mercy? Your skin may be very angry with you and overproduce oil in retaliation. The end result: a huge breakout.
- Becoming Dr. Pimple Popper 2.0: You knew you shouldn't do it, but you got soooo sick of seeing that same stupid pimple and popped it. (We've all been Dr. Pimple Popper 2.0 at some point or another, tbh.) Sadly, now your skin may be irritated, scarred, and still have that pesky acne you tried to purge.
- Digging tunnels in your skin: You see one of those inexpensive manual extraction tools and are lured in by the promise of acne-free skin. Going to town with one of these may make your skin acne-free, but not healthy! You might accidentally cause scarring, bruising, or even push bacteria deeper into your skin.
If any of those scenarios sound a little too familiar, don't panic! All of us Auria babes have been there. This is where the gentle yet effective Extract treatment and Refine serum come in.

Vita Pore Extraction: How to
If you've never used a pore vacuum before, you may be a little
nervous. But there's no need to stress.
The treatment is simple and quick—plus, we'll walk you through it,
step by step.
Step 1
Start with a clean face. With the Extract tip attached, turn on the device and select the first power level. (You can always turn up the power, but we recommend starting small.)
Step 2
Hold your skin taut with your free hand and use the other hand to glide the tip across your skin in short, gentle strokes (1-2 seconds each), applying a bit of pressure. Continually move the tip across the treatment area. Never hold the pore extraction tip still in a single location on your skin.
Step 3
After each stroke, lift the tip and move it to the next area of your skin. As the pore extraction tip is designed for spot treatment, it is not necessary to use it over your entire face. Treat the areas that are prone to breakouts.

Meet Auria's Refine serum
The Refine serum is the perfect way to enhance Vita's Extract treatment. Refine is perfect for everyday use, but we specifically formulated it to make your Vita results even better. Refine does it all. It lightly exfoliates, reduces breakouts, and tightens pores, so it's no wonder Refine was named one of Health.com's 2023 14 Top Serums for Smoother Skin. Use Refine to say bye-bye to unwanted texture!
How Refine makes your skin smooth and ✨glowy✨
The Refine serum is packed with oodles of ingredients to make your skin oh-so-happy. Check out a few of the superstars:

How to use the Refine serum
How to use the Refine serum
Refine is a clear-pores serum, so we recommend you use it on an as-needed basis, whether that's for breakout days or every day. After your Extraction treatment, apply 2-3 pumps of Refine and gently press into a cleansed face.
Make sure to wear SPF after using Refine! Because Refine contains the super-exfoliating alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), the serum will slough off the top layer of your skin and make it sun sensitive. So don't skip on that sunscreen.
Wrapping it all up
Now you know how to keep your pores clean (but not too clean!). With the power of the Extract tip and Refine serum, you'll be on your way to happy, healthy skin. Your pores will thank you!
